Two representatives from the ESSE Institute participated in an international conference entitled ‘'Self-knowledge, the Pedagogy of Love and Creativity’ in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The conference, which took place between 25th–31st October 2017, marked the 20th Anniversary of the National Scientific and Practical, Educational and Recreation Centre Bobek, which was created in 1997, on the initiative of the First Lady of Kazakhstan, Sara Nazarbayeva.

The conference attracted high-profile educators from around the globe. Marianne Meyer, Director of the ESSE Institute and Mrs Petra von Kalinowski, Director of the ESSE Campus Germany, contributed to the event with lectures and workshops as well as interviews to Almaty TV, on the importance of bringing the Universal Human Values to children and the society.

More than 800 selected participants were present, including the Minister of Education and Science, Yerlan Sagadiyev and the Mayor of Almaty, Bauyrzhan Baibek.

A beautiful musical performance by students from the Bobek Centre opened the event. This was followed by a very inspiring inaugural talk by the First Lady, sharing her genuine understanding of the spiritual message, which has been the driving force behind the unique programme and its implementation through this remarkable Educational Institution.

The platform was then given to several dedicated and outstanding personalities, as well as international educators and scientists, who focused on moral and spiritual education and its implementation in various settings.

The following 2 days were dedicated to a series of workshop sessions highlighting the message of Love and Harmonious Living. On the last day, a special training for staff at the Bobek Centre was arranged.

Over the years, the centre has branched out considerably, and today includes the ‘Institute of Harmonious Development of the Individual’. The institute is at the heart of a whole educational complex, aimed at the implementation of the innovative educational ‘Self-Knowledge Programme’, which is based on the Universal Human Values.
